Connecting Sensors

Wire up to 7 Modbus sensors to a single Radius device on one RS-485 bus.

Wire the RS-485 bus

Connect the sensor's A/B (D+/D-) terminals to the Radius device's Modbus terminal, along with a shared GND.

Set a unique Modbus address

Each sensor on the bus needs its own slave address (1–247) so the device can tell them apart.

Power the sensor

Confirm the supply voltage matches the sensor's spec sheet before connecting power.

Note: the water meter valve must be powered on to communicate with the Modbus master — it can be powered from the Radius endnode's adjustable power supply (+ / −).
Warning: size the wires properly for the run length and current draw — undersized wire causes voltage drop and communication problems.

Every sensor needs its own unique Modbus address — set it via the meter's own configuration before wiring it into the bus. Two devices sharing an address will collide and stop responding.

Mobile App

Monitor and manage your Radius devices from anywhere, on iOS or Android.

Monitored functions are functions that get saved on the device itself and sent automatically on every uplink interval. A device can have up to 7 monitored slots.

It's possible to execute commands once — like changing a sensor's Modbus address or activating a relay — without saving them as a monitored slot.
